Build skills this summer that last a lifetime

As businesses around Australia continue to recover from the pandemic, many employers will need staff to cope with the huge demand for jobs across a variety of industries. That's why this summer, the NSW Government is offering a wide variety of FEE FREE, industry-aligned short courses for young people wanting to learn new skills.


Skills Lab has partnered with the NSW government to offer FEE FREE courses for school leavers

Skills Lab is offering three courses as part of this Summer Skills initiative to support school leavers and young people aged 16-24 in building the skills required to be successful in modern industry.

FEE FREE Summer Courses
by Skills Lab

Introduction to Automation (ITA)

Learn about control systems, integration in industry and a foundational understanding of programming across five days. The ideal career launchpad into automation that requires no prior knowledge.

SG00008922 - Statement of Attainment
in Electrotechnology:

  • UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEEIC0013 - Develop, enter and verify discrete control programs for programmable controllers
  • UEEIC0025 - Provide solutions to extra-low voltage (ELV) electro-pneumatic control systems and drives

Dates: January 10 – 14, 2022 or March 28 – April 1, 2022



3D Design and Manufacture

If you're interested in 3D modelling, 3D printing and project lifecycle management - this is the course for you this summer! 

SG00008871 Statement of Attainment in Conservation & Ecosystem Management:
  • BSBPMG428 – Apply project life cycle management processes
  • VU22312 – Produce Components using CAD and CAM Technologies

Dates: January 31 – February 4, 2022 or March 7 – 11, 2022

Who can apply?

You must be:

  • a school leaver or
  • aged between 16 and 24 (at the start of training)


You will also need to be:

  • living or working in NSW
  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder
  • signed out of school
